Speaking partner

To make a cultural exchange between local students and exchange students, Kansai Gaidai offers a speaking partner program. It´s voluntarily to participate in the program, but I think it´s a really good opportunity to practice your language skills and you get to interact with the local students. What do you know, maybe you even get a new friend for life!

I had to fill in an online application where I had to answer a few short questions, for example, how many times/week I want to meet with my partner, what I would like to do, etc. I also had to fill in a short message to my prospective partner. The University later sent me back short message from my partner together with some contact information. I only got her email address, but it didn´t take long until we moved the conversation to other, more suitable conversational platforms. In Japan, most people use an app called "Line". You only have to create an account and add people through their ID or telephone number. If you are going to Japan, I highly recommend you to download this app! I got paired up with a girl who is a first-year student and she seems really nice. ( ^ω^ ) Her courses start one week after mine so we have decided to do something on the weekend before she begins, which I´m really looking forward to!
